Expanding ammunition returning to Section 1?

#1 Post by daman »

There is a report in the Autumn edition of the BDS magazine that the BSSC "...has welcomed amendments to the Policing and Crime Bill which will return expanding ammunition to Section 1 status and extend the validity of firearm certificates during the renewal process...".

I havn't hear this from anywhere else, but given how the Met has been tightening up on expanding ammo recently it sounds like a welcome return to sanity.

That will make a huge difference to everyone if it happens. FAC holders, RFD's and transport costs, hopefully common sense will prevail.

Interesting. I thought that amendment had been dropped. I hope I'm mistaken but I can't seem to find any reference to it in the latest copy of the Bill.

Expanding ammo is still on their but the regularisation of S1 shotguns and long barreled pistols/revolvers to 'normal' firearms rules has been dropped :bad:

Link? I'm surprised at LBRs being dropped. They are a "normal" club sight and despite the opposition at the time, the sky hasn't fallen in and no one has been chopping down the barrels or lopping off the extension rods!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Until I see it in the actual Bill (still can't find any recent reference to it) and preferably once it has been given Royal Assent, I'm not going to hold my breath over this.

From what I can make out, that particular amendment hasn't been withdrawn but then again neither has the one seeking full cost recovery of FAC/SGC's...

True, but neither is it listed as one of the amendments that have been dropped. We will just have to wait and see... fingerscrossed
