Nothing wrong with that
"upgrading" with a pistol grip can only be an improvement on the ergonomics and polymer bits are just a sign of times changing to more sustainable, managable resources. Its why armies use AR15's etc instead of flintlock muskets these days.
There, that should get the 303 nest stirred up

Did anyone scroll down on the original link? Quite like the K31 conversion. As for the 7.62 one above, I think it's nothing more than a modern upgrade, after all we all improve our modern rifles by changing the original stock, etc. Our last TR comp at 500/600 yds was won by an L39 shooter, beating a couple of modern target rifles. At least this rifle is being shot and looks like it could be returned to its original configuration unlike a lot of the 'Bubba' versions.
Actually the one in this picture is not .303 its .308/7.62x51 the magazine is wrong for .303.
And what - is that meant to be some mitigating evidence .
Sadly this sort of "thing" is forced upon us by the those mindless gun control nutters and ignorant politicians who think black guns and safety features are bad!
Get used to it because for now it keeps the ignorant Kontrol people happy!
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
A rifle means different things to different people (I mean shooters). To one its a tool to be used to the best of its advantage or to eat, to others its an artificial penis or a fashion statement.
I guess it depends on the purpose. Was the eyesore created an attempt to improve the performance of a rifle that was only ever used for plinking, and was a heap to start with (or even made from bits)? Or was it a perfectly serviceable service rifle with matching serial numbers and a story?
We see enough people fitting scopes, bipods, trying to shoot SR(A) with parker hale sights fitted.....as it is. Some of these folks have good reason (apart from cheating in SR(A), others are just lazy/missing out on the buzz from shooting an old iron sighted rifle well.
It could be that these "mods" saved both of these from the chop, in which case great, but I agree neither look particularly great.
