600 yards. You are jesting of course were am i ever going to find a range 600 yards long.
I have only ever had the opportunity to shoot at 600 yards once in my life. It was at battle Hill we waited all day to get on the 600 yard firing point by the end of play it was sheeting down with rain. The range conducting officer Chris Barber said OK guys lets call it a day.
I dont think so I said what about the 600 yard jobby. OK he said who wants to shoot 600. Two hands went up. So we laid on the wet grass side by side and let rip. My first shot went in the bull after that I could not see anything through the scope for the rain but we completed our detail. Chris Barber was soaked to the skin and called us all the nut cases under the sun. The guy shooting next to me was Adam (Dromia) he probably wont remember it must be well over ten year ago if not longer.
I'm at Ponteland twice a month at the moment (2 clubs) one primarily shoots 100 & 200yds on A range and the other starts at 100 (or 200 on HME dates) and moves back to 600 on B Range. Otterburn you can shoot to 1200yds and beyond
If you're not shooting that far then 308Win would be my choice, you already have the action & magazine, it has excellent barrel life, milsurp is cheap or load your own high quality ammo for around £40-£50/100.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

I all ready have a .308 and it's a lot less trouble than this thing. I have a Steyr SSG 69 I have had it for at least ten year it is fitted with the correct Kahles scope and roll of mounts. It hits every thing I point it at with no issues. It's a dream to re load for. I have the factory target for it and the original load data.
It out shoots this 6.5x55 and it's a lot less hassle to re load for.
In fact why am I bothering with this thing. Its a dog.

On the 6mmbr.com site just do a search for neck turning. You can also google neck turning reloading, there are a few videos that you might be interested in.
Neck-turning is pointless unless you have an undersize chamber neck. The whole point of neck turning is to decrease the neck clearance not increase it.
Of course, if you brass is particularly horrible, a light neck turn will even it up but now, quality brass like Lapua doesn't need this.
