Aquired an unopened spam can of 54r this morning from a friend who his now reloading for his Mosin PU sniper.....and it appears it is a can of 7n1 , which is a rarity

Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank.....give a man a bank and he can rob the world!.
It has "SNAYPERSKIYE" (SNIPER'S) on the lid so it's looking promising!, thing is I don't want to open it.....not yet anyway.
Never seen a '77-dated can though, all the cans of 7n1 that hit the States years back were pretty much all '97-dated, which is very recent in terms of Russian milsurp.....especially as even in Soviet Union/Russian Federation it was very rarely issued.

The only ones I have ever shot were all CCCP made.
Why dont you put it under the tree... wait for the snow to come ...
and open it on the 25th or the 7th of Jan according to your own belief or traditions ...

Even better, plant it under a tree and hope it blossoms into a big, Mosina-food tree. You'll be harvesting 7n1 every summer for the next 50 years!
I have quizzed my friend further and it is indeed 7n1, he had two cans of it that came in the original crate that was also marked SNAYPERSKIYE and the individual packets of 20 rounds are also marked the same.He shot one cans worth and this is the other. He picked it up from an auction donkeys years ago apparently.
I've decided I am not going to open it as the chances of me finding another unopened can of it is unlikely......it can sit in the safe along with the 54r tracer it took me an age to source

I must confess to be insanely jealous ...
