I bought mine second hand and don't have the original receipts, but I was told at the time it was something that originally came from Armalon. Not sure where it started life though, perhaps it has a more interesting past :)

Wow that looks impressive.
My AUG has a trigger tamer & extended bolt handle on it already however that cammed handle looks brilliant.
Where did you guys get your brass catchers from? Seems like a wise decision else I may upset a few people without one!

I got mine from the same place. Not sure whether they export, I picked mine up on a trip to the states, but they were great to deal with.Blackstuff wrote:I got mine from here but that was many moons ago, probs won't export now but they're worth a try

Re: Steyr Aug Z bolt won't lock forward when chambered. Help
Actually thinking back a friend brought the Steyr one and a generic picatinny rail one back in their luggage for me (along with a load of AUG mags), was quite embarrassed when I saw how much space they took up, especially the AUG one
I'm sure at the time they said they'd have exported it anyway though

Thanks guys. I will give them an email and see what the crack is.
What ranges are you finding your AUGs to be accurate too?
(By accurate I mean within 1-2 inches.)
I will be using a Vortex Spitfire Prism 3x, as I mainly shoot 50 & 100 meters. I'm currently applying to join an additional club so I can get the chance to shoot on MOD ranges, where they reach out a lot further.

Re: Steyr Aug Z bolt won't lock forward when chambered. Help
I only ever used mine with factory/surplus ammo so the 1.5" I was getting out of it at 100m was more than enough for me. If I dropped back to 200m it be more like 3-4" using the 4x ACOG I had on it most of the time. In all the time I had mine we never went further back than that at my main range but on one of the electronic target ranges at Otterburn it was easily knocking down 'man-sized' targets at 550-600m using the BDC reticle in the ACOG

Ah accuracy sounds more than capable then.
Currently I've got the cheaper steel cased Hornady training rounds, so I would imagine my experience will be similar.
Enquired about the brass catcher too so I'm look forward to seeing what they can do for me.
I took delivery of a few of the 42 round mags, sadly no 30 rounders in stock and the 10 rounder seems a pain to insert/remove. They are rather large!
Couple of pics of the rifle below, red dot is on just for pics. 30 round stock mag too:

Mine REALLY didn't like steel cased ammo, although it was Barnual that I tried in it rather than Hornady. It got stuck to the point where I had to bang the charging handle on the front ledge of the foxhole I was shooting from using my full body weight on the buttstock!

Ah well time will tell. I haven't been to the gum much recently so maybe that can make up for it!Blackstuff wrote:Mine REALLY didn't like steel cased ammo, although it was Barnual that I tried in it rather than Hornady.
