In the meantime, your choice has gone from the old guard of SGC Bradley Arms and Lanner Tactical and there are probably 20+ models out there now and that's just in .223. Plus there are new things due from Lantac, (my personal favourite) and I've heard good things about the Low Mill Ranges AR builds, especially if you're willing to change calibre.

I saw tiny little gun shops at the shooting show exhibiting straight pull builds I've never seen before, schmeisser, double star, Adams arms, patriot ordnance, noveske, all sorts.
Too right the AR market is much more crowded nowadays, spoilt for choice.

There is also South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies, Rimfiremagic, making a rifle with a proper billet side charging upper.

I was down visiting Roger today and had a look at his pretendy ARs and can attest to the high quality of his work. If I was in the market for one his would definitely be on the list.

I wonder if we can use the "its not guns that kill, its the owner" argument here, to some extent ?

I imagine, that its not the AR that is the cause of the bickering, it is some of the owners.

It would not surprise me if those concerned troll to the same extent on other matters - the AR is probably incidental to their need to stir things up.

I own an AR and the bickering on here is soppy a grant you, but I would suggest you rise above using silly phrases.

Now back to my SOWR it needs some tlc

Pretendy AR owners who are offended by such should grow up and grow a pair, leave the the dummies in the pram and enjoy their pretendy ARs for as long as they can.

Actually, sorry to disappoint you but I don't think they waited for your enlighten comments & blessing to enjoy their UK AR ...
For what it is worth, I do agree that Straight-pull AR are a bit of "a strange concept" that actually defeat the very purpose of the rifle, hence the reason why I chose to only get a 22lr one here and instead own & shoot full-bore SA AR & AK in countries where they are legal. BTW, I 'd even dare to think only full-auto ones are "proper AR" ...
Having said that, with all due respect, if you are so concerned with the tone of the AR discussions here, maybe you should equally stop antagonise UK AR owners with your terribly annoying & childish over-use of the word "pretendy" .... As far as I can see, they were actually doing perfectly well among themselves until you intervened with your highly informative & constructive comments ;)

"Pretendy" isn't even a real word........but then again neither is "boolit".

Straight pull ARs are still a lot faster then turn bolt actions 10'shots in 7 seconds with ease bangbang
However yes it's wired and no other eu country has this crap rule. Even some us states have banned semi auto ARs and thus those shooters are now turning to straight pull or pump action ARs now
