Hmmm, that 6.8 seems worthy of further consideration if a reamer is available... Otherwise we're inclining towards barrels in 6.5x55 Scandisqueagian for 1200mards or 7.62x39 for plinking. .338 Federal looks good too ! Anyone here got one, or an opinion on it ?

Just a .308 on steroids - here you'd have a job convincing PC Plod who in our area works purely on numbers and who would suck his cheeks and say "That's a bit big for the range" based purely on .338 being a larger number than .308.

Our FEO doesn't seem to like anything bigger than .300/.308 for some reason unless it's a pistol calibre.

I considered the 9mmx39 however you end up with virtually no shoulder to head space from so the 9mm Rascal (9mm-08) was born. The alternative was to find a suitable rimmed case however I wanted to stop with the 12 round 2A1 Magazine.

A .338x39 might work quite well

As per the title, I have always found my .222" to be more than adequate for badger.

As always with live quarry shot placement is everything.

Mind you in saying that a large calibre sump doing 40-50 MPH does equally well, certainly seems to do the job if the roadside score cards are anything to go by.
