Can you really be a Geordie from Newcastle? I'm sure the only true Geordies according to my dad's family come from North Shields and they came more from Weirside and the Sunderland area. A true Geordie is said to be one born within Newcastle City limits. Others will say those born in Northumberland, or what was, on the NORTH side of the Tyne. Never, ever, is someone from South of the Tyne ever referred to as a Geordie. Those South of the Tyne are either Mackems (effing savages who eat their first born!) or French!!
