Hi folks
Might be interesting for some of you, I was given a box of CCI .22lr shotshells a while ago when I bought some guns from a relative of mine. (I'm not daft enough to buy them myself!)
Anyhoo, I've done a little video shooting them out of my long barrel pistol which shows the pattern at close range. Plus a bonus penetration test on ballistic spuds. I don't have ballistic gel, so I raided the cupboard.

Wasn't sure if this should be in General or Reloading and Ammunition - apologies to Admin if it's not in the right section.
Cheers!

I have a good handfull of rimfire shot shells here however I am yet to shoot them and they are as a curio only. They are probably 1950's and have a cardboard cap in the end of the case. Ask Maggot about his escapades when rendering such things inert

I take it these were designed for humane dispatch of captured vermin with relative minimal risk for ricochet
Very interesting video

Interesting video! I'd always wondered what they did!

I've got a friend in vermin control who uses them for shooting birds/squirrels in confined spaces such as attics where use of .22lr would over penetrate and damage the property...Duey wrote:I take it these were designed for humane dispatch of captured vermin with relative minimal risk for ricochet

Yep, me too - now I know!safetyfirst wrote:Interesting video! I'd always wondered what they did!
No doubt they will pattern better from a smoothbore .22 or a rifled barrel longer than 12 inches. But as I don't own a .22 smoothbore and the LBP was in my kit bag on the day ... why not.
If I get a chance I'll test pattern from a standard length rifle, might be a while though due to working for a living getting in the way.
Cheers!
