Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?

Thanks Dogger2 for coming through, you are quite correct and I was guided to that previously from a post on another forum. I prob should have read the details more fully but the information is not exactly 'headlined' but it is there. Still no answer from S&B though which is very disappointing our Teutonic cousins are generally very good on customer service, also not very reassuring if there is a fault which ends up where you are looking for guidance or returns the only thing at the moment making me think a Vortex Razor might have been the way to go!
Re: Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
Stick with the S&B.
Make range cards for each type of ammunition you shoot.(number of clicks to 300,400,500 etc).Actual shots not computed.
Don't worry about the scope...concentrate on your breathing and trigger.
(By the way the turrets on a vortex go the wrong way round!!)

Topdogpippin wrote:The article stated that 400 hours went into that test so Sim G if you can tell me the basis of the stron imperial evidential support for your opinion I will probably stick with the S&B whilst praying it is as well made as we hope they are because I agree on the customer service based on the response to my question that started this string!
I have a 42 year old little Leupold sitting on a rifle I don't have to pray about the customer service on this, or any of my others.
You've bought into a brand, as most of us do. You have your justification and you only have to justify it to yourself. Start rubbishing other people's choices, you will have pointed out the flaw in yours. Enjoy your S&Bs, you paid a lot of hard earned cash for them, they are comparable to others, but will never be head and shoulders above anything else. Quite the reverse...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Hi,
I've just bought a rare S&B PM 12X42 scope with an AI serial number. Apparently a special order. The reticule is a fine cross wire with a small central dot and a thick vertical post, below, that stops an apparent 2/8" below the dot. Has a BDC turret from 100-600 meters which I presume is calibrated for 7.62 Nato.
Optics are perfect. 26mm tube.
Not too keen on the reticule and have been in contact with 'Klaus' at S&B as to other reticule options. He has been very helpful, emails replied to within 24hrs, and says they can service the scope and change the reticule for €332 inc postage which seems very reasonable. Options include Police and Mildot.
Do you think the reticule change is sensible or should I leave as is?

I would leave it alone.

Proper "Sniper" stuff seems to command a premium these days and there's certainly a following of all things British in this field. I'd leave it as is.

The price of British issue sniper scopes is very high compared to Russian sniper scopes and I don't mean the old PU scopes you get on Mosins.Maggot wrote:And dont we all know that the place is just crawling with proper "Snipers"Sim G wrote:Proper "Sniper" stuff seems to command a premium these days and there's certainly a following of all things British in this field.
