reading online about these rifles, seem to be hit and miss! it uses allen key bolts for the ejector, bolt release and the barrel ! not good (bolts working loose etc)
other complants are parts breakages esp the buffer !
there is few pages devoted to problems on the xcr forum

Was that the first gen? I'm sure they're on a second Gen (hell even Tesco carrier bags go through generations).joe wrote:reading online about these rifles, seem to be hit and miss! it uses allen key bolts for the ejector, bolt release and the barrel ! not good (bolts working loose etc)

I saw one in the flesh a few weeks ago and I was very impressed with the build quality, it's lovely. When I cycled the action it was deliberate, but pretty effortless. The nice part about the lever release is, the lever is exactly where your finger should be in between shots. I'm in the process of putting in for a variation now.

The ease of action is good to know, but still not a fan of the trigger finger having to move off the trigger/doing a second job, which is where it should remain on a 'semi-auto' until firing is complete, unless you're moving!HALODIN wrote:I saw one in the flesh a few weeks ago and I was very impressed with the build quality, it's lovely. I'm not a fan of using screws / bolts for the ejector and the bolt release. The single bolt holding the barrel has some issues as well !Blackstuff wrote:Blackstuff wrote:It was more the finger joint going white that 'concerned' me.The ease of action is good to know, but still not a fan of the trigger finger having to move off the trigger/doing a second job, which is where it should remain on a 'semi-auto' until firing is complete, unless you're moving!HALODIN wrote:I saw one in the flesh a few weeks ago and I was very impressed with the build quality, it's lovely. Ok,checked on xcr forum-most problems/posts are old, first gen rifles.Nothing wrong with the new ones and highly prised about quality.I noticed the light version comes also in 5.45x39-VERY tempted but ammo could be a big problem here,hmmm...

Re: section one robinson arms xcr
It also comes in 7.62x39 but you need special ar mags for that, the 223 one's wont work. Also since the Yank's aren't getting any more of the cheap stuff (5.45x39), maybe that is an opening? I mean the kiwi's have started getting some, so where is an an enterprising type when you need them?polemass wrote:Ok,checked on xcr forum-most problems/posts are old, first gen rifles.Nothing wrong with the new ones and highly prised about quality.I noticed the light version comes also in 5.45x39-VERY tempted but ammo could be a big problem here,hmmm...

I think there is definite potential for some kind of extension added to the lever so the thumb can be used. it just needs to extend up and along the top of the trigger so its clear of the index finger when the trigger is operated.Blackstuff wrote:Is there another clip other than the one showing a single release of the bolt (shot close up from the right hand side)? Its just that clip makes it looks like it takes significant effort to release the bolt and I'd imagine would tire your trigger finger quite quickly. I don't follow how it would be faster than either the SGC or MARS guns; providing you have the timing (which I don'tSixshot6 wrote: - The lever release system appears to be the bolt release system and by the short clip looks to work faster than the sgc lever release (something is done to help it retain a gas system but still require that manipulation after each shot)) you can get a SGC lever gun to fire and reload almost instantly, there would be a definite pause with this (as shown on the FB clip) due to the movement of the trigger finger. A larger lever might help make it easier.
I like the base rifle, I'm glad there's another alternative (hopefully) coming to market and its infinitely better looking than the VZ58, but the way the action works doesn't excite me at all. Trigger release, for me, is the best way forward for these types of rifle. After that I'd prefer the release to be operated by the support hand so you can just leave the trigger hand to do the job its supposed to be doing. I suppose if you're shooting this rifle off a bipod you could operate the lever on the other side of the gun with your support hand but that wouldn't really be an option shooting it in any other position.
Pistol caliber release/self-ejecting rifles please manufacturers!!
