Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
I recently purchased an S&B 5-25x56 PMII with a P4FL reticle 1/4 moa in the second focal plane. Having, I think, read the instructions manual quite carefully and looked on line I emailed them to ask 'at what magnification do the subtensions show the correct moa' that was over a week ago and a follow up email has not rendered a response either, doesn't auger well if I have to make a warranty claim does it!?
Anyway can anyone help me with this question. I can't believe it is not stated in the instructions or on their website, even cheap scopes like Nikko Stirlings or MTC's clearly stress this in their instructions and specs.
Please, only informed comments, the supplier started with the comment 'well a sniper who used these told me it was.....' major supplier, basic question, speculative here say answer....crap!
Sorely disappointing it is detracting from the joy of a major financial commitment and instrument!
thanks TDP

Its usually either x10 or the maximum power but can't say for certain on that particular model
DVC

Thanks blackstuff, as you probably know it varies from scope to scope, Manu to Manu so I really want the definitive answer on this scope which to clarify, if needed, is a Schmidt and Bender 5-25x56 PMII with the P4FL reticle in the second focal plane with 1/4 moa adj on the turrets. The last bit isn't that relevant but it save anyone having to ask or saying I haven't supplied complete enough info.
Re: Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
I thought all 5-25 PMII's were FFP, is one of the magnification numbers larger of highlighted in some way?
Re: Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
They are available both SFP & FFP the reticles vary slightly depending on the option. Yes there is a raised point or knob on the zoom ring at 10x but that could just be for grip purposes which is why I am looking for a definitive answer.

While you're waiting for a response from S&B is it not possible to put a calibrated target up and work it out? For example, a 1" square can be measured at 100 yards as roughly 1 moa using the reticle. Sight your scope at the target and zoom in until the MOA sub-tension matches the square. As others have mentioned, the most popular magnifications to have the reticle calibrated on will be x10 or maximum magnification.

Thanks Welshshooter yes you are right, someone made the same suggestion elsewhere and it is very valid and I will do that at the first op. I have had a valid reply via another forum which says either 25x or 12.bowl which gells with something else I found on a dig around.
Re: Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
don't wait on S&B as they will give you the wrong answer anyway.
I asked the same question about my 2FP 12-50 PM11 and they told me 25x was true.....but when I checked it it shows true at 12.bowl.

Also don't forget that the reticle is Mils not Moa.
Re: Schmidt & B reticle question, can anyone advise please?
Yes on your last, why do they do that, why not make the turret in the same gradation as the ret? There is a fix on the web involving sticky tape and a marker pen.....really, on a £2500+ scope. I may do it for a fixed load data round marked in Yds. I have a Kahles ZF on my SSG and it is great whilst everyone is fiddling with tables and turrets you just move it from "2" to "4" or as req when you move firing points, assuming the load matches the cam but I have worked back on this as I don't know which cam is in the scope as there are about 8 for different bullet weight/charge combinations.
