Authorities say the shooter apparently was cleaning or oiling a gun he thought wasn't loaded when it discharged.

You are missing something with these gun cleaning "accidents". You should be aware that if you commit suicide that your life insurance won't pay out and probably voids any pension payments to the widow. It's therefore in the family's interest for the coroner's verdict to be an "accident".

In this case, somebody shot another bloke in the back. Perhaps it was attemted murder rather than a ND? any????

I'd go with the attempted murder line and send a message to all those idiots who still believe in ND's and the tooth fairy!

The guy pulled the trigger and shot someone, no accident there...more of an "incident" and should be treated as such....another statistic for the anti gun nuts to gloat over.
