Anyone reload 7.5 French and 7.5 Swiss

#1 Post by lasbrisas »

Folks, as per the title I already load for several calibres but have a question ref bullet diameter, I want to start reloading 7.5 french for my MAS 36 and 7.5 swiss for my K31, I am getting conflicting info regarding bullet diameter so any advice would be appreciated. I suppose I could pull a factory round to measure but thought it would be easier to ask first.

I reload for the mas 36. I use 155grain Hornady .308 A max bullets. I have all ways just used .308 reloading data for the 155grain bullet using Vitavouri N140. It works for me.

Swiss is most definitely 308.
I use 155gn lapuas in mine.
Good for 900 yds.

We use pawloads in both our K31 and MAS 36: small cast boolits over a few grains of powder to give some extremely accurate rounds that can be used indoors on a 25 mard range. We're thinking eventually of adding an extra grain or two of powder to take them out to 300 mards.

We understand that the K31 is very picky about overall cartridge length - it has a very sensitive throat apparently.

Sierra Matchking 168gr for my K31. Works a treat.
As indicated previously by the stripey one, be careful with the CoL on the K31.

Nominal dia. for the Swiss is .308". Mine is .3088". As always you should slug your bore before using cast. Mine shoots great with the 155 smk and the privi version of the original 175 gr. service bullet, both with N140. Most of the time mine gets cast, either the Lee 150gr. flat nose or the Lee 200gr. round nose; both sized.309". Best accuracy with both these bullets is at the 2100 fps mark.

Great, thanks everyone for the replies, I'm ok atm for ammo as I managed to get hold of it at a good price but will reload the brass when I need to.

K31 new barrel is .295 across the lands, replaced at .297 and shot out at .30! My 1946 k31 has a very tight barrel (replaced at the Bern armory 1957) and the lands come down almost to the neck of the chamber...usually have to seat cast quite deep to get it to chamber at all. COL will depend on the bullet, ignore published COL figures.
