I have a lovely little Webley & Scott 410 bolt action that has been messed around with at some point, the receiver is held into the stock with a screw which screws into a collar which holds the trigger spring in place, this in turn it screwed onto a stud that is attached to the receiver under the chamber and here lies the problem. The stud has been silver soldered in place and is crooked, does anyone know how the stud should be attached to the receiver, is it screwed in or welded in place?
The gun shoots perfectly well albeit with a slightly lighter than usual trigger however I would like to return it to as close to original as possible, I could chop the crooked stud off and dress it back however I would prefer to know before starting work on it.

I have one too and it works near perfectly.
Can you get a couple of pictures of the problem part/area and I can then do like wise here so you can compare.

Re: Webley & Scott BA 410 question
Have just stripped mine down.
The threaded pin has a slot in the top and is almost certainly screwed in, however, I cannot unscrew it. Closer inspection shows that it may be brazed into place there is a small amount of brass coloured metal around the base.

Re: Webley & Scott BA 410 question
Well that answers my question. I have to assume the previous owner had stripped the thread of the stud or pulled it out and opted to silver solder the stud back in place. Downside is it did put some heat into the receiver however it shoots nicely with 2.5" No6's so I may just accept it for what it is.
Thank you.
Thank you.

You mention silver solder - that could be how mine is retained, "brazed" was used generically.

Yours is a lot neater than mine, plus mine is certainly a repair.
