Mossberg MVP LC... anyone got one or tried one..?

#1 Post by Daryll »

"The MVP LC combines the MVP platform with a lightweight target chassis, Magpul stocks, and an optional Vortex® Optics Viper HS-T scope."

I like the look of these and I'm thinking of getting one in .308.. anyone have first hand knowledge of them??

TIA

I can sort of reply to this!
I have an MVP varmint in 5.56/223.
I like the concept and TBH it was cheap.
The bolt flops around until in battery.
Factory mag on mine slacker than a slack thing. Aftermarket mags are apparently better such as Magpul GEN 3.
Mine has a massive freebore probably due to being chambered for 5.56 rather than 223.
Part of me wants to have the barrel setback and the chamber recut but I cant justify the cost.
I cant actually seat a 55gn fmj and get any where near the lands they are that far off!
68gn and up are ok but way too long to fit in the mag if set to lands.
Factory 55gn and 62gn ammo was appalling in accuracy. Struggled to get any thing smaller than a 2 inch group.
However I have used 68/69/73/77gn to 600 and 69/73 to 800 and they shot well. Mainly V`s and a few 5`s.
I can hit the fig 11`s out to 600 at senny with hand loaded tracer pretty much 8 out 10 shots.
Its worth checking out the Mossberg forum.
A few places now selling aftermarket parts for them.
Worth having a look at one as they are relatively cheap.

Thanks Tony, yes, one of the guys down at the club has the .223 varmint version, and he has said it prefers the heavier (and longer) heads.

Anyone else tried the Mosberg LC version...??
