AR-15 for CSR

Lantac will be bringing a new rifle out in the next couple of months, a very good price which will include the bells and whistles.

Bells and whistles not required, nor anything "tactical". A standard A2 buttstock is fine, spend the money on a quality barrel from a recognised maker and a good trigger.

By bells and whistles it will include 4.5lb 2 stage trigger, muzzle brake, magpul grip and stock. Some find the A2 LOP a bit too long, possibly why you see so many using Magpaul UBR stocks.

Yep....same with a BAR apart from the stock which was a A" that I asked for and later changed. MY bad there.

Wierdly I ask why a RFD who's passion is CSR/SO would build a rifle that was innapropriate for the discipline and sell it...pretty dum in anyones book to be fair

My Lantac Raven is much lighter and better balanced than the SGC Speedmaster.

There don't seem to be many Lantacs in use for competition. Which is a bit surprising given how highly rated they are by their owners. How did you get on in the last CSR match?

Seen a few at Diggle and know of another couple down at Bisley. Maybe you need to look down magpie alley for them?

Know a lot of you think CSR is really awesome, couple matches a year is all I can be bothered with. PSG and mini-rifle is a bit more fun to me and more .

Seriously - I despair sometimes at how sectarian our sport is - shooters putting down fellow shooters

Lantac, Bradley, SGC, all of them have won CSR matches this year and probably a few other 'brands' have also.
Look at them all, try them all (if you can) and buy the one that suits you.
Same as any gun.

Ultimately, a good shooter can pick up pretty much any gun and make it work for them. It's not all about the name

Mark Bradley...He can be a bit abrupt but he is a decent guy....

Putting it lightly.
I'm yet to see this side of him, however I haven't been to a CSR Meeting.

Baldie seems like a decent bloke, straight down the line and the rifles he puts out look (and seemingly shoot) mighty fine.

You pays your money and makes your choice. SGC have been talked about to death on these here forums, and personally, due to the way they reacted to a blown up action, I would (and have) avoid. That's not to say they don't have lots and lots of happy customers though, and they have been doing it the longest, so theres more likely one to come up second hand.

Paul at Lantac has an awful lot of things going on at the moment with setting up Lantac USA in Texas, he's got some interesting things in the pipeline for the UK market, however its a slow process and I've been waiting a while to get a custom made .22lr. I'm sure he's still knocking out straight pulls, but his attention has been increasingly geared towards the US market - not that I can blame him since theres a bigger customer base, but worth taking consideration of if looking for a rifle and potential after-care.

I don't own any of these rifles - it's worth taking that into consideration when reading my responses, these are just my observations as an interested party.

I presume you don't go on the CSR forum then, MENTION any other type of shooting and away you go! I think I lasted less than a week because I refused to nod along to the PSG bashing.

The best advice is to go to a comp and look / touch / feel / drool and more than likely shoot the rifles being used. If i could go back in time i would have bought my CSR AR from someone who shoots CSR and builds AR's. I bought a Spikes Tactical at a time when i was not shooting CSR and it was fine. Once i entered my first CSR comp i realised i needed side charging and a decent barrel. Not far off the cost of another rifle. I now own a Spikes that has been fettled and sorted out by Dave at Valkyrie and it is awesome. My Urban Contact match AR is a BAR 15 from Mark and i have sex with it every Saturday night it is that nice ! Both rifles helped me win Service Optic class at Diggle last year

I have also shot and worked with Lantacs and AR's from SGC. Both are good in their own way.

Go to a comp and you will see. Then spend wisely and safe in the knowledge you dont need to fork out more at a later date to get it right !

In fact come up to Diggle and you can shoot as much as you want with my AR's. We have a CSR taster / training day booked for the 8th April ( Friday ). A perfect day to see if you like it. PM me if you more details

Lantac will still be retaining a presence in the UK, with the new straight pull coming out (full Spec and price to be confirmed, but pretty much as BamBam described) and more .22's to come I'm sure.
Paul will be backwards and forwards from Texas all the time anyway. So no need to worry about aftercare.

Yes Lantac UK will not change and we do indeed have a shiny new AR coming out May time.

You will get a good rifle from any of us, Mark, Dave, Matt, SGC.

While you may not see many Lantacs at CSR, probably 5 or 6 pos more, we have sold quite a few (over 200), that are sprinkled across the UK in different configurations.

Our new Straight pull is packed with innovation and I think worthy of consideration when its available.

A different question tho is about this new ridiculous EU law where they are thinking about banning tactical looking guns or synthetic guns or whatever.

I know there is much discussion on hear about it but some people have mentioned to wait until after the vote to buy one.

What are your thoughts on buying one at this time?

I may have open another can of worms hear but all relevant questions.
