The only references I had heard to the SKS was the VC and NVA using the things, for some reason I thought they were 7.62x54R until recently...so every day's a school day.

The Chinese loved them and actually issued more SKS's than AKs, they also saw quite a bit of use in the Balkans as Yugoslavia produced their own version as did Poland and Romania etc.
Quite an extensive list of SKS users around the world and they pretty much turn up in any conflict where you find the AK.

The stock has some very nice Arsenal stamps and cartouches on it, including the Tula Arsenal star and date stamp plus various inspector and refurb stamps.

Nice looking rifle. The wood was always much nicer on the Russian-made versions, than the Chinese.

I have one of the Chinese versions. It was brand-new (unfired except for testing) when I got it. Here we can have them complete with a working gas system. IF you want to hold them on a A category (sporting) licence you have to change the magazine capacity to 7 rounds or less and remove the bayonet. Mine's a E Cat (military style semi-automatic) complete with 10 rd magazine and bayonet. It's fun to shoot, but accurate it ain't.

Poland never produced SKS rifle,was use in some units and last one were retired last year when Representative Guards Of Polish Army replaced them with modern MSBS

My apologies, you are indeed correct as Poland did not enter into production of the SKS......as they adopted the AK.
