News to me but not been on any of the US forums for a few days.

IF true it may be a short term thing -as given how the firm is heavily lead by accountants I cantu see them writing off the investment in tooling etc.

Having said that they're nuttier than batshit, so we'll see what develops as news leaks out

Thanks people.

I didn't believe it. I had a look on both the Marlin and Remington Websites.
No mention of anything.

Remington killing off the Marlin brand is an old BS rumour that came about a couple of years ago and continues to resurface every now and again in t'interweb land. The rumour originally cantered around the Freedom Group, which has bought up quite a haul of gun manufacturers, is itself owned by another conglomerate which was allegedly controlled by Goerge Sorros, big billionaire Obama sponsor. It was felt that Obamas anti gun strategy was to have friends buy up the businesses and close them. As said, BS.

Obama has begun another anti gun campaign and hence, out the conspiracy rumours come again. Freedom Group/Remington have recently invested heavily in new machining and tooling for Marlin rifles. They're around for a long time to come.

H&R rifles have ceased production. They did last Feb/March 2915. Remington moved production from Mass. to NY, but evidently felt that the investment needed into the brand, which are ultimately cheap guns, despite nostalgia, didn't warrant the investment. The last of the staff have been payed off and the tooling scrapped.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
