I think there's a mix-up somewhere......I thought you was referring to my target being dire or have I got it wrong?. Context can get lost in threadsdromia wrote:Just mistook the post, thought I was agreeing with you.

Re: New Year New AR

At the end of the day it is what it is and it does what it says on the tin.

Re: New Year New AR
I like AKs (I own one), but the point was the OP said they planned to shoot at a 6" target at up to 200 yds.
Hitting most of the time at 100 isn't a good start (in this case)...
It's all about the right tool for the job - expecting / needing more out of a rifle than it'll ever give won't make for a happy purchase.

I am looking to .223/5.56 calibre straight pull and giving serious consideration to LMT, but also looking to Hera and Schmeisser.
Mainly to be used for 100/200 yards non-precision 6" diameter Shoot'n'C/plastic bottle shooting at Severnside using a range of Vortex/Burris AR type sights (and a Mepro M21b when it arrives). Thinking a 16"/18" barrel length 1:7 twist.
Have discounted CMMG as handling a .22 it felt a bit rough and ready, already have a Lantac .22 Raven (although indications are that we might see a full Lantac US manufactured rifle this year that might be interesting), already have a SGC 9mm LR so would like something else.
As an outsider I would consider an AK (epecially with Magpul guards and stock) but only have a .223 on ticket and doesn't seem right somehow to have an AK in .223.
Price range up to/circa £2000 (but closer to £1500 would be better).
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated especially from any LMT or Hera owners.
i have the lmt 308 mws i very happy with it ! in fact i'm so impressed i thinking about picking up the 5.56mm lmt as well!
lmt have factory option of a olive green frame which i'm tempted !
i will have barrel cut down to 14inches and mill out the forward assisant so i can have a side charger
