Straight pull l1a1 or M14

#1 Post by TomEnfield »

What are people's thoughts on straight pull L1A1s and M14s?
Are they anygood?
How difficult are they to operate?
How reliable are they?
Do you think there's going to be a trigger release version released any time soon?
Where's best to get one? Suffolk arms?

I make the L1A1 Straight pull rifles, to make them "legally" is not cheap. Others tried. They are now in court.
The M14's we supply are made by LDT i commission a run of 15 at a time. No you cant buy direct. M1 Garands we also make, others advertise them, but they all come from me!

I'm interested in the Zastava M76 or M77 rifles. I've not made my mind up which one I would like to have, but it seems after reading on some US forums that the side rail on the Zastava M77 is not identical to the AKM and that any side-mounted scope rail would need some minor modification to fit.

Neal455 is Suffolk Rifles I have a L1a1 & M14 both from Neal they are excellent and cycle almost all 7.62/.308 ammo without an issue. Not tried RG military ammo.... only because I can't find any.

TomEnfield, do not think there will ever be a lever/trigger release of one of these but you can hope. Shooting them makes one smile, and everyone wants to have a go/look at them on the range.

Sorry to make this slightly off-topic, but should all handloaded ammunition for straight pull rifles be full length sized? Can you get away with neck-sizing or bumping the shoulder back a few thou?

Neal455, what are they like to cycle for a right handed individual? The cocking handle on both doesn't appear to be in the most ergonomic location?
