Another mystery gun turns up

Here is another unknown machine pistol that I’ve posted a short write up on via the ARES blog. A number of these have been appearing in the hands of Italian and British crime groups, one even being seized in a Real IRA weapons cache. Along with the ‘R9-Arms’ pistol It appears most likely to be Croatian in origin with obvious false branding. It most definitely has nothing to do with Intratec or the real TEC-9 pistol.
When all guns are outlawed etc...how many of these are knocking about in Europe I wonder.

I was at a Special Branch presentation back in the 90's - the showed me a home made Sten made by the IRA. A smooth barrel enclosed in a stack of steel washers inside a box iron chassis. Very well finished and even painted matt black.

Ran just as smooth as a real sten and accurate enough for what they referred to as "doorstep jobs".

Zip guns are nothing new, they just get more sophisticated.

The home made STEN in the picture above is now in the National firearms centre in Leeds and I got a good close look at it when I visited there a few years ago.

why is it not a home made sterling? it uses a sterling mag, type of bolt and even looks like one

so why call it a sten?
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns

I hear you on that, I think sten just makes people think more of lower quality and sterling being a better made gun so they say homemade "sten" and it makes more sense to people. Its ignorance but I guess that's what we deal with.

I don't think most people would know or care what the difference is to be honest. The vast majority of people don't have any knowledge of firearms, or any interest for that matter.
