#1 Post by jay851 »

Hi
Can anyone recommend a place that can do parkerizing on guns in the south east.
Want to get my remmy 870 done.

Thanks

I've got some Duracoat in Parkerised Grey colour. You're at the wrong end of the country though...

Did my 870 in, er, 870 Black = looks really nice for a first try. SimG's Auto 5 got sprayed at the same time too - not overshoot, on purpose

Could you please give me a run down on the diy duracoat ie how you apply it and how durable the finish
Is. Also where to get it from, as would not mind having a go myself.

airbrush onto bare metal
very durable as it is a two part epoxy type paint
Lauer Weaponry in the USA & some EU stockists

Do a Google search & check out YouTube

VERY easy to apply/use = has to be for the home-market users in 'murica

If you don't have access to spraying equipment, you can now get the Duracoat Shake n Spray Kit (about half way down the page http://www.caswell-europe.co.uk/Paints_ ... ishes1.htm).

Aldi were selling cans of spray Stove Paint for a Fiver.

It states it is heat resistant up to 650 Deg C after curing at 160 Deg C for 30 mins.

I tried it on and old Airsporter, curing it with a heat gun while checking temp with a DVM with temp probe.

Finish look like Parkerizing and seems hard-wearing.

I believe the kit comes with a Scotchbrite pad to key the surface, so should be OK as long as properly prepped and applied.
