I was having a root around in the loft this weekend and found this bayonet, any ideas which rifle it fits?

Are there any other markings/dates stamped on the grip or hilt? Perhaps you could show if there is a slot or other mechanism showing how the bayonet is attached to a rifle.

Looks like the actual barrel attachment on the Hilt might have broken off from the pictures?

Looks similar to Martini Patterns and Enfield patterns : http://mopepatt.com/enfield-pattern-1858-short-rifle/ But the hilt is curved the opposite way to everything else I can see...

Obviously i know nothing about bayonets

Oooh, scratch all of that....

Looks more like a Panzer Bayonet...

It says

These bayonets had often rifle mortises but could not be fitted to rifles like K98. The spring-loaded pommel- button worked normally, but the track for the bayonet lug was under-dimensioned and often filled in with cloth of fitting colour.

And the one pictured has one of the 2 markings yours has...

There is a T-shaped slot in the hilt that it looks like just slots over a lug, i don't think there's anything snapped off.

It does look like that Nazi one, I wonder where the hell i got this from then?!

Probably handed down from one of your relations who served in the SS.

It would explain your obsession with black.

Mauser pattern - either K98 or one of the FN made versions

Your bayonet is a parade Mdl . Normally those were private purchase and never found their way to a rifle. They were more intended to be worn with a colourful portepee knot to impress the Fraulein when walking around town or at the biergarten.
Yours was made by WKC & from the markings it pre-dates the WWII. You would have to check , but I'd think it is more likely to be Weimar or even WW1 made one.
