Re: Recommend me an ammunition cabinet
I think Brattonsound will take special orders for cabinets with non standard shelves.

+1 I have have done the exact same thing, but bought an old very cheap 5 gun cabinet (unknown make) loads of storeage on 5 shelves mine are wood.@nd wrote:I have a Brattonsound sc2 and made up some 3mm thick steel shelves for it,then pop riveted small L brackets on the inside. Two each side and one at the back to hold the shelf and stop it sagging. You could use any safe and put in as many shelves as you need, just mark it up drill the holes and pop rivet away.
Re: Recommend me an ammunition cabinet
Apparently Brattonsound van supply bespoke cabinets with shelves for virtually the same cost as a standard one so that will be my first option. Failing that I agree it is easy enough to add my own shelves.

That wer nowt lad, back in the day I used t'put a paperweight on top of me Vickers and a photograph of a German shepherd next t'it, and that wer enough fer Durham poliss!saddler wrote:nope = amateurphaedra1106 wrote:1mm thick (thin?) tin ex-sports locker with a single £2 padlock on the front![]()
Don't laugh, back in 1980 it was more than good enough for Northumbria Police to let me store a 7.62 AR-10, S&W 29 44mag, Beretta 92F 9mm and several hundred rounds of ammo
Back when I had a fair few calibers (in the handgun days) my approved ammo safe was a cantilever toolbox.
I think if I'd held my max allowance for each caliber it came to about 16,200 or so in total!

I know it's not what you are looking for, but I use one of those large steel worksite site toolboxes. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-Jo ... /203777537

Re: Recommend me an ammunition cabinet
I use B&Q large key safes for ammunition storage.
They are about £48 a time (less if you have an old codgers discount card for use on Wednesdays!)
They have a removable shelf and the internal dimensions are approximately W375xH295xD295.
The carcase is made of 2mm steel and the door is 4mm with a good lock.
My FEO is quite happy with them as ammo safes.

Re: Recommend me an ammunition cabinet
I spent a long time looking for a large ammo safe. In the end, when I upsized my main safe I built removable plywood shelves for the old (~5 gun) cabinet to use for ammo. It's probably good for about 6,000 rounds or so if packed tight. Even with my limited wood skills it was quite straight-forward, and I'm pleased with the results.ovenpaa wrote:We need some more ammunition lockers/cabinets.

I like ukrifleman's suggestion above. I also use domestic security safes for ammo, although I only shoot teeny bullets so that's not a problem. Oh, and 12 bore. North Yorks police plenty happy with that solution.
