Scope for up to 1000yd target

#1 Post by Yossarian »

hi everyone, brand new FAC arrived and my first purchase will be my .308 which I will be using out to 1000 yards target. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent scope in the £750-£850 range? I know this is the base end of the market but I'm on a budget. I've been recommended the Sightron siii 8-32x56 and been told/read things about Vortex which has scopes in that price range but lower mag and allegedly not as good optic quality.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Well I'd go with a Sightron, I have two cheers

Yup - go with the 8-32 Sightron - and get the LRMOA reticle.

And a third, 8-32x56 and a 10-50x60, both very nice indeed :)

Which reminds me, I'm going to need another one for my upcoming Ruger Precision Rifle, I think another trip to the US may be in order, the money I save on the scope will pay for the flight 8-)

Got two Sightrons, no problems with either at 1000 yds.
Careful now/that sort of thing

Also recommend the sightron in that price range. I have exactly that one on one of my rifles for 1000yrds (FT/R)

Great feedback everyone, thanks. I think a sightron is the way to go.

Anyone with one of these Sightron S3's - Can you get one to focus down at 25 yards...?
