Visitor's permit

Does anybody know the ins and out of getting a visitor's permit for an American friend coming over to hunt deer with me?

I've done a couple this year for visitors. The form is very straight forward and self explanatory.

Not had any issues.

You just need Firearms Form 107. I've been over twice to hunt & never had a problem. Takes about 6 weeks' turnaround time though. :)

Check the turn around time. Check the permit to make sure it is correct. Make sure the VISITOR has the ORIGINAL on arrival not a scanned / photocopied version. Make sure he has NOT swapped guns at the last minute (Yes I have seen that on numerous occassions esp with Italians). I'd also recommend he travels with 2 extra copies so that if the item goes missing he can leave a copy of the visitors permit with the missing bag file.
