Who here still has the first gun they ever bought?
Who does or are you like me who's changed them nearly as many times as his socks?

Smith & Wesson 29, 6" 44mag revolver, gone but not forgotten

I hear you, I once asked if its better to have loved and lost than to have never loved that all (or owned a good smith). Strange choice for a first gun though?phaedra1106 wrote:Smith & Wesson 29, 6" 44mag revolver, gone but not forgotten

If we are talking firearms then a Mosin Nagant M44... still have it... but I did only buy it two years ago. :)
If not then my spud gun is long lost.

My grandmother gave me her Jefferys shotgun - it was later destroyed/stolen by the Gardaí Síochána. I'm still bitter over a decade later.
Who? Me? Really?

Still own and shoot my first full bore rifle a Enfield No4 MkII in .303 bought 15years ago

From what I've heard the Gardai make most British police forces look like Paragons of efficiency and ultra competence in firearms licensing and at times we're lucky to have that. Strange world we live in.daman wrote:My grandmother gave me her Jefferys shotgun - it was later destroyed/stolen by the Gardaí Síochána. I'm still bitter over a decade later.

I blame it on Dirty Harry (and my friend had one), well that and most of my shooting was indoors at 25m so a rifle wasn't the first choice.Sixshot6 wrote:Strange choice for a first gun though?
It was a lovely thing to shoot, 8gr of Unique and a 200gr rnfp bullet, couple of speed loaders and a holster and police pistol was very enjoyable

Subsequent purchases were a .308 semi-auto ArmaLite AR-10, Beretta 92F and a Parker Hale ex-police heavy barrelled .222 with a gold plated trigger. All now sadly gone.

I sold my .308 Sako Finnwolf a little while ago. I had bought it new in Coventry in the early 70's. It was sold to pay a large chunk of the cost of a custom Anschutz 54 for .22 benchrest which should see me 'til the end of my shooting days.
I was sorry to see it go but needs must!

The AR10 would have been a dutch made one as very few real Armalites exist outside of the current eagle arms entity. I can understand losing those but the parker hale? Get tired I guess?phaedra1106 wrote:I blame it on Dirty Harry (and my friend had one), well that and most of my shooting was indoors at 25m so a rifle wasn't the first choice.Sixshot6 wrote:Strange choice for a first gun though?
