In what way was his "good reason" weak? From everything I've read so far, all was in order with Bird till he started killing people and had held SGC and FACs for over 20 years, owning the most ubiquitous guns in the country, a .22 scoped CZ and a sxs hammer gun, for a little bit of bunny bashing on ground he had permission for...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

As I understood it he wasn't particularly using them but I could be wrong there, his mental issues should of flagged up more. As I said I almost shied away from adding him but I think there is some case that the Police could of handled things better.

What did I ask you again? I can't for the life me remember Fedaykin. Oh I remember now, my question about 7.3 status. There is a dealer down south that's got plenty of modern ones that could be similar thing. Another one I can think of is a limited run of a gun. Like the silhouette model python that came with a leupold scope.
I'd do section 7.3, but right the time is not right and plus I'm likely for my own reasons to end up in the Isle of man in the future, no need for 7.3 then

Too bloody right they could have handled some things better! Ryan did need looking at, but wasn't. As for Hamilton, the "blame" for that fecker, apart from him, lies squarely at the door of the then Central Scotland Police as a whole and Assistant Chief Constable McMurdo in particular!
Bird on the other hand was, just exactly like the bloke that's next to you on the firing point ostensibly...

Didn't McMurdo drag his arse to a nice non-extradition country also when he retired?
A list of sites is published in the Guidance for Firearms Licensing. Doesn't look like there are any in Scotland, nearest on would eb the one on my door step in Co. Durham;

I am guessing there would be hysterics from Scottish Antis if somebody tried to register a heritage centre up here. I also think Police Scotland would be hardly helpful in the application process. The SNP would certainly use it as a political argument to try and get control of Firearms licensing from the Home Office. An SNP government getting full control of firearms licensing off the home office is a terrifying prospect for those who participate in our sport.
Even worse with all the fuss that the SNP and their supporters would kick up it certainly would be on the national news.
Add to that the Dunblane families along with GCN and MAG, it would be all:
"Loophole allows people to shoot banned pistols across the country", all of a sudden those heritage sites will be under some very public scrutiny. I hate to say it as somebody living up in Scotland but it is probably not worth the effort for the blowback it might cause for this last bastion of centrefire pistol shooting in the UK.
