RIFLE SERVICING
Do people here get their rifles 'serviced' ? Reading some of the older books they talk about getting their rifles checked annually by a gunsmith. I'm thinking because I've had my TR for about 10 years (although its probably fired no more than 2,000 rounds in that time) and maybe I should have it checked over; particularly for barrel wear etc.
Re: RIFLE SERVICING
I've only had "it" done once, years ago, on a prticular rifle that just seemed to stop performing. I knew it would be bad and it was.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

That's always the danger; that I get told some bad (i.e. expensive) news!
Re: RIFLE SERVICING
It depends a bit on how confident you are in your own abilities to identify any problems, whether you currently suspect any problems, whether you have [access to] the tools and instruments to identify any problems (e.g. measuring sight backlash, throat erosion, barrel gauging), how rigorous your own maintenance programme is, how often the rifle passes through a gunsmiths’ hands anyway (e.g. for rebarelling), and doubtless other factors.
Re: RIFLE SERVICING
If you can't do it yourself and you know a trusted gunsmith my advice would be to get it checked.
A good smith will give you the full picture on barrel/throat wear etc.
Better to spend a few quid than get a face full of brass, or worse, bolt.

Re: RIFLE SERVICING
Anschutz usually have their servicing team at the Bisley NSRA champs in August, I usually get them to give my small-bore rifle a once over, it only costs a fiver.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!
