Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
The replacement for the Lee Enfield N.4 Mk.1 in Canadian Ranger service has finally been announced.
It's to be a license-produced version of the Tikka T3 CTR built by Colt Canada.
See here for more details.

About time. I'm amazed those Enfields have gone on as long as they have - tough guns, I must say!
But just watch, just to be bloody-minded, I am quite certain that those Enfields will NOT be sold by the Government here in Canada - probably as a job-lot to some foreign country or something. God forbid they should let us ordinary folks have a crack at 'em........it would just get all the anti-gun whackjobs screaming about all those 'assault weapons' being available to all of us...... asshats......

Britain's a foreign country in Canadian terms, right?
Re: Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
Looks like they have made a good choice as a replacement for their old and knackered number 4s.
I wouldn't mind one of the Tikkas myself. How long before someone starts calling it the Tikka scout rifle?

I wouldn't get too excited- I'd bet most of them are well and truly shagged by now.Gaz wrote:Britain's a foreign country in Canadian terms, right?
Re: Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
Is the wood colour finish part of some sort of non-lethal psychological warfare to keep the bears at bay ?
Re: Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
That's a very large hard case to be toting for a small rifle.
Re: Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
It would of been part of the specification, wood is better suited to the climatic conditions they Rangers operate in.froggy wrote:Is the wood colour finish part of some sort of non-lethal psychological warfare to keep the bears at bay ?
Nice to be proven right, when we first speculated on this I suggested an adaption of a commercial hunting rifle would be the best choice. The T3 is arguably one of the better rifles in the market, the boxed package looks rather nice IMHO.
Re: Canadian Rangers finally get a new rifle.
surely a McMillan type stock would be better ?
also why bother with all of this when a blaser is well known to be the best rifle (deep voice) IN THE WORLD.........
