What impact will a one man band Scottish shooting organisation have?

I haven't the time to write a manifesto but it should be based on where we are just know and aligning that with the reality of gun ownership and the facts surrounding that and ensuring that the review and development of firearms legislation is based on reality and not just a knee jerk political reaction. That would need to be combined with a sustained publicity campaign around gun ownership and shooting at a national level.

As to the leadership I have no-one in mind as I am far too reclusive to have knowledge or interest in people beyond the handful that are important to me.

Obviously they will need to be good communicators on all the media, doing it because they believe in the message not for the money and/or their ego, be comfortable and convincing around any table, have integrity and be honest.

I suspect that will be the problem finding someone in the public eye with those qualities

We make grand gestures toward supporting our sport but then we skimp on spending our cash where it will do good for the sport. Worse perhaps we pay our money to said representative bodies with an attitude of "Toddle on chaps. I've done my bit."

Demonic from anything I have said how could you possibly have understood that?
NRA have been woeful but are picking up. They are all about Bisley and have zero political influence.

I'm a member of BASC who I believe have more political sway than any current organisation.

However we have too many niche market representatives. They only serve to fragment our voice.

We need a media savvy organisation that brings together our disparate voices. However I don't believe this could ever be FirearmsUK. Whatever they achieved it would be too easy to pull down.

Get 200,000 signatures in support and watch it crumble as the media point out that a lunatic fringe organisation started it that have as an agenda that they want guns in the hands of the masses so that they can defend themselves with lethal force against threats real or imagined

In another thread someone asks for advice about cheap insurance. Rather than "cheap" shouldn't we be advocating organisations that seek to keep our sport alive?

OK that is conflating the questions.

Yes we should have organisations that represent gun ownership but seeing as we don't at present the OP had a legitimate question about insurance, especially as that is all the benefits that the national organisations offer.

Responses were about the OPs insurance question not about the quality of an organisations representation, hijacking those responses out of context causes confusion and clouds your arguments.

I thought your role was one of impartiality?
Yet you continue to divide this forum and cause members to leave.
You abuse the rules with pseudo swearing yet pull up others for doing so.

You preach your views to anyone and everyone and god forbid they have differing views to you.
No wonder this forum keeps losing good members.
