I used a ground tool to cut the thread it took me a while to work gear ratios out for the change wheels but the screw cutting went better than expected. I guess your lathe will have a gear box. No faffing about with change gears.

The small lathe has change gears plus an external gearbox however the other has an internal gearbox so I can cut virtually any thread I need such as a .250"x35tpi I needed recently.
