And those modern ak's have polymer furniture, they've changed a bit since. Speaking of which, how come so few people ever realize that Mikhail might have been onto something when he said 6.5mm was probably the ideal bullet for most uses?
Mikhail said 6.5 was best? The Swedes were a good 50+ years ahead of him with their 6.5x55...

Maybe he was part swedish? And his comment is hilarious in hindsight when one considers 6.5 grendel is descended from 7.62x39.

What do you call the AK-12 then?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-12

I see rails, Vertical foregrips, red dots and other stuff that lives off CR2032 batteries. Don't try and do shopping for batteries when a new Russian squad with AK 12's has been in. Also fab defense is a glorious product of Israel, so its Kosher cheers
The AK-12 won't be issued like that!, and it will be a very long time before it completely replaces the AK-74/AK-103/104 and 105 in the Russian armed forces.....polymer stock and handguards are acceptable, plum furniture on AK-74s' looks very nice.

Saddler.....Did you see the link to the TKiV stock that was on Ebay?
Yes, ta.
Was in 50/50 whether to bid on it. In the end I was away from the internet, so never put a bid on it...may see if he re-lists it.

STILL waiting for my one-for-one variation (promised for last week - 4 weeks & counting!!), so I can collect one of my two M91's.
Both were delivered to Dromia on Thursday; so getting the shotgun one first....the M91"B" model will be next in line to pick up.
MAY have to check with a couple of dealers over the waters later this year, to sort out a matching .22 M91 trainer...just have to offload the WW2 Mossberg .22 trainer to free up funds/slot for it.

Yip - it's still got a 5 round magazine, but the barrel has had the rifling reamed out - so it's still chambered in 7.62x53/54 (...it's a 1941 Tikka M91, so one of the early Tikka models)

They (& many many similar WW1 & WW2 bolt actions) used to be THE thing that WW1 & WW2 re-enactors used; as they were just a S.2 shotgun so easy to buy.
THEN the laws changed - and unless the gun has a fixed magazine that is permanently restricted to 2 rounds, the gun reverts back to S.1 status = killed off the re-enactor market as it was no longer easy to find/buy these on S.G.C.
BUT - they do pop up sometimes, and normally for silly money...this one was £100, the Swede M96 I have was £40 (again, still original chambering) & a Lee Enfield No.4 shotgun, but in .410 for a change!

Aside from the "recent" UK re-enactor shotgun models, there were many many thousands of old WW1 rifles made into shotguns as cheap hunting guns in the years following WW1. It's surprising what can turn up, and sometimes in good enough condition to allow the receiver/action & other parts to be salvaged & made back into a working rifle.

The previously S.2, now S.1 again, shotguns are worth looking out for as they can be the basis of a good project

So a new barrel and bring it back into a rifle? Good man, save a bit of history and then there is one more Mosin for those that come after us.

One of the guys Mosin's appears to be in a pro mag stock, might be a way to make it tactical for the 21st century or maybe a sniper build?

I once picked up a lee Metford in 410 that someone had built a moderator for. Made a noise like slinging gravel at a wall.
