Range bags - no, not firing point groupies!

#1 Post by johngarnett »

Hi people!

I would like to get a 'range bag' along the lines of a rucksack style to hold TR scope and stand and, if poss, my jacket plus all the other c**p that goes to the point for TR.

I tried a search on here for 'range bag' and I now know every combination of these two words!!

Please has anyone any thoughts. I may have a look at the Phoenix also.

Thank you

I have an old Alice....but she's good to the kids

Have a look at the surplus packs on the web.
Medium Alice pack without frame.
Cheap as can be & very versatile....almost like a Dundee lass but without the smell of chips

I got one of these...

Plenty of pockets for cleaning kits, shooting glasses, ammo, pens, foresight elements and whatever. Then a massive main section which is big enough for my scope and jacket with an absolute massive abundance of space.

It's got straps for backpack and handles to carry it. was pretty cheap too, considering the size:

Might as well get yourself an Eberlestock & carry the rifle in it too. ;)

Is the flat outer panel/base waterproof?

It looks and feels it. I haven't tested it in the rain yet though...

I'm more concerned about when you put it down on wet ground and it wicks the moisture up into the bag.

What I'd really like is something with a hard waterproof base.
