Partly, yes. One of the big reasons for having NFLMS in the first place is that it covers the entire UK.Sixshot6 wrote:Would you be surprised if they did?Gaz wrote:Does this mean the SNP has abandoned the National Firearms Licensing Management System in favour of a (presumably very expensive) homegrown database that doesn't talk to the rest of the UK?
If the national gun registration database isn't national, why should we be paying for its upkeep...
Re: Police Scotland & RFDs
You'rs and my idea vs the governments idea of national are two different things. Might be something to bring up at one of those licensing cost meetings. If we' re not having a system that covers all of the uk, as you said we should not be paying for it. This is the SNP's ploy and Sein Feins too. Destroy any appearance of the British State (RUC turning into the PSNI, British transport police being absorbed into Police Scotland) and slowly but surely eradicating any trace of a British identity in those areas. Once they eradicate it enough, they get what they want. Its a sad sight, but it's happening and the Main uk Gov does nothing about it.Gaz wrote:Partly, yes. As far as i'm aware the scottish forces decided to get involved in the national firearms database thingy,i think on costs and really not needed. However it being a single force now and more importantly the political masters have changed.

Spoke to my FEO (Constable rather than a civi) today and he won't be seeing me until about two weeks before it expires - on the plus side he was confident that it'll be renewed on time...we shall see.

I'm in the same boat, same area/different FEO, my FAC/SGC both expire a month from tomorrow - no sign of a visit, I'm no more confident than Grant.

Anyone want to run a Section 7 sweepstake for Aberdeenshire renewal SNAFUs?

A Sweepstake for a dead cert?saddler wrote:Anyone want to run a Section 7 sweepstake for Aberdeenshire renewal SNAFUs?

I forgot to add that they are also asking for FAC holders to surrender their certificate at the renewal inspection, which is contrary to HO guidelines - I know of two people who didn't know the guidance (or the advice from BASC) handed theirs over.
Personally, I'm planning on refusing to hand mine over, but it'll probably have expired anyway.

They insist on FAC's being surrendered for one-for-one variations too.
Always refuse...due to some of the delays I've experienced with them...
Had forgotten that this request was contrary to Home Office guidance.

I got mine only a couple of weeks overdue but only after badgering Licensing dept.. Seems the cop who was supposed to action the home visit had the paperwork sitting on her desk for almost 3 months without even looking at it.
Don't forget to empty all ammo into a plastic bag first if they come and want to count your holding. Cop who came to see me took my word on how much was there.
