Re: Importing firearms from abroad
I tried to get an OIL from the department and was told I didn't need one for European imports and that they wouldn't give me one on a just in case basis. I have been taking in firearms from Europe with no problems.

Was it the people in Stockton you spoke to?, I had the same reply when I was looking at a rifle a couple of years ago.

Thanks all. I have a dealer in Finland who already has an export licence however once I've paid Finnair costs, storage costs at the airport plus the RFDs fees I might as well have flown out myself. It's for a couple or three military bolt actions.
Re: Importing firearms from abroad
Import licence enquiries should be addressed to the Import Licensing Branch Enquiry Point (. E) IMLB01 and I have the contact details if anyone is genuinely interested.
Re: Importing firearms from abroad
Genuinely interested.
Re: Importing firearms from abroad
When I bought a rifle in Germany, my local licensing issued me with a "Schedule 7 authority" for the EU authorities. It was 12 years ago of so details are sketchy....

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

And no doubt, some will expect to hear the story, there is no pleasing when they do though SimSim G wrote:When I bought a rifle in Germany, my local licensing issued me with a "Schedule 7 authority" for the EU authorities. It was 12 years ago of so details are sketchy....
