My son Luke & I have just got back from another fantastic RRC.
What can I say?........this must be the best rifle challenge in the UK .......great CoF which is both challenging (very!) and incredibly varied.
Tiff is a spot-on organiser and an absolute GENT with enormous patience and an appetite to please.
The terrain is truly perfect for this sort of challenge and the main day went out to just under 1000 yards with an extended long-range session today for those that could stay.
I will forget the many misses that I made but not the double first-shot kills that Luke and I made on the 950 yard balloon targets!....Not going to brag quite so much about the rest of my performance!
This facility (and Tiff and his family and helpers especially) deserves much more widespread support ...use it or lose it as they say.
I would like to extend my huge personal thanks to Tiff and co for a brilliant day....roll on the next one!
PS...Also the shooters are a great group of guys......competitive in the best way and always ready to help out each other....good to know you all.

Re: Roundhouse Rifle Challenge
Doesn't this event require an open licence?

My understanding is that you need field conditions but not an 'OPEN' license.....the site is not a formal range but is cleared for centre-fire.
Re: Roundhouse Rifle Challenge
The comp was great fun but today's long range plinking was just one of the best days. Shooting out to nearly 1400 yards in winds from 2-7 moa with everyone helping each other get on target, even Glenn with a 243.
It's only for shooters with an open ticket as it's not a range and everyone is zeroing their rifle. There are no winners or losers it just makes us all better shooters.
Thanks Tiff for all the hard work you put in I hope it's better supported in the future.

Re: Roundhouse Rifle Challenge
Still not sure an open cert is needed as permission may be granted on a daily basis....Tiff can confirm facts.
Re: Roundhouse Rifle Challenge
Yep I think your right does not need to be open but must have Vermin on it not just target. Tiff might be a while getting back to you as he's at the RRC until Wednesday packing it all up.DaveT wrote:Still not sure an open cert is needed as permission may be granted on a daily basis....Tiff can confirm facts.
