Swing Rifles - History for Wikipedia

Chaps,

You may recall that I posted here a while ago trying to get some gen on my TR, an Angel M80. I've had a lot of help and this has resulted in my putting together this Wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Rifles . Its still a work in progress but I'm getting there.

One of the features of Wikipedia is the cross-referencing of articles. You can see I've done this for Shultz and Larsen. One thing that surprised me however was that when I tried to cross reference to Swing there is no article (at least that I can find). This is a shame: firstly because its such an iconic design and secondly becuase it underplays the TR discipline.

I'm happy to have a crack at it if you can help me with information. I need especially articles with references and pictures. Anything really. In fact maybe we can make this our project; to fill in the shooting pages of Wikipedia? Well probably not all of them but the ones related to our experience i.e. TR, F Class etc.

I would suggest speaking to Robert Chombart (RGC) of this forum as he worked with George and Laurie extensively and as such should be a superb source of knowledge

Schultz & Larsen? I am still trying to find the definitive source for data written in English on the S&L. If the Wiki reference on the S&L is yours the link to Laurie's site http://www.topcorp1.com/swing/swing.html is sadly now gone.

I should have added, yes the idea of filling in the shooting related gaps in Wikipedia is appealing and should be looked at.

There is an excellent description of the Schultz-Larsen 54J, (L for hinting in Vikingspik as you know...LOL) predecessor of the 62 on the Stuarts Otteson's book 'The Bolt Action'' If you cannot locate ir, I can scan the chapter for you...when I will have 5 minutes.

I met Mr Otteson in 1993, a personnage... We corrssponded together at the time on the Swing-Paramount subject.

This is what I've got so far. Its an editing of Robert's article as a 'starter for ten'. I'm sure there a heap of errors in it so I'd be very grateful if anyone can point them out to me and obviously provide me with any references, pictures etc.

The only thing I spotted was a minor typo 'Notwithstanding the type was subsequ named'

Maybe a worthwhile project would be to add something about Laurie Ingram at some point.
