GDK Safes, any good?

#1 Post by Demonic69 »

Hi All
As it looks like we might be moving house soon I thought I'd sneak in another gun safe while our lass is happy :D
The GDK ones look great for the price, with a 5 scoped gun version and separate safe selling for £165 delivered.
I've read one user on here who swears by them, it was a little while ago though. Does anyone use them, are they any good for the money, are they deep enough (the deep version) for an AR style rifle with scope?
I've currently got a Brattonsound that I got from Adam, so I'm only really supplementing that as it's not a deep safe.
I also like the look of the Lokaway but they don't do a deep safe sadly.

Cheers

I have a 6 gun GDK vault-type safe, and it is very well made. The one criticism I do have though is that the double skinned door takes up a lot of room, which cuts the internal space quite a bit. The single skinned twin lock cabinets are a lot better in this regard, because very little internal space is wasted.

I have yet to find any reasonably priced gunsafe that advertises "Room for 5/6/7 scoped rifles" etc that actually live up to the hype. I'm not quite sure how any of the manufacturers actually come by these figures, because they certainly don't do it by actuially trying to fit said amount of scoped rifles into their cabinets. If it's just for shotguns, then there is plenty of space. 8-)

All in all, I would say that the GDK's are as good as any, and better than more than a few.

From reading the specs all you needs is 5cm per rifle! That's based on the width difference between a 5 and 6 gun cab!
