Wind thingy wanted

#1 Post by redcat »

A friend of mine has a nephew who is serving in HM forces and is possibly sniping. This young guy talks of a gizmo that calculates allowances for wind, seemingly something like a circular cardboard parking disc. Said friend would like to acquire one of these but nephew cannot oblige. Is this kind of item available commercially?

Yes and they are made in the UK as well, now I just have to remember the name of the company that supplies them. Somewhere in Wales from memory...

Here you go, I have had my hands on them in the past and they are 100% recommended. Made by Tactical Adjustment Systems to the individuals requirements.

The target rifle version was made by Fultons at Bisley. I've a feeling no longer available. HPS had a flip wind chart that is good. You could also try Sinclair in the U.S. They have charts listed on their site. You can also get 'apps' that do the job on phones/tablets including a military standard one somewhere. Try the Snipers Hide site in U.S.
Hope this helps

PS if anyone can create one for TR for here you could be onto a winner!!

I still have an old Parker Hale Jobby that I took out the first few times I shot. Belonging to my father from the 70's :D

The TAS one is probably the one your friends nephew is using.

Vince B did a review a while ago here and I remember marvelling at the quality of the thing one evening whilst the Viking and Dougie (Designer) argued over the merits of a second shot on Rabbits at 1000 yards with a .223

Won't be any good here then, they're probably in Welsh and have pictures of sheep instead of numbers on it..
