I hated the Eotech! I was convinced that mine was faulty, the reticule was horrible, all made up of "tiny" little dots. I took it back to the shop, they said no, it was perfect. But it was still the same, made up of tiny little dots. Mates looked through it and all agreed that the reticlue was smooth and even. Until a mate who has a "plus" prescription on his glasses, the same as me...! Turns out a corrected plus prescription gives a 6/6 enhanced vision. 6/5 if you like, and because of that the reticule to some looks like a matrix of dots. Seemed as good an explanation as there was, so I passed mine on.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Explains a lot, I could never get the hype, I used one a friend of mine mounted on his Marlin 1894, thought it was utter crap, but he remained adamant that it must be me, seems to be the case, like you Sim I'm a + prescription.

At the comp yesterday there were quite a lot of scopes being used. Mostly low magnification but some big heavy things.
I did see a few magnifiers on guns but not being used. I would agree that that up to around 50m no magnification is needed for practical so a simple red dot is fine. I might have a go at 100yards at the tunnel and see how it goes.
