SAS firearms.
I was wondering how small arms are selected for the SAS, obviously individual soldiers can not choose what firearm they carry. What would they be looking for in a rifle for example. :)
Re: SAS firearms.
Whatever they're issued by the Govt after stringent tests and evaluation for whatever role the weapon is required for.

Never, who would have though that was the case. SBS are probably different though.Gundoc wrote:Whatever they're issued by the Govt after stringent tests and evaluation for whatever role the weapon is required for.

Small Arms School Corps might get involved, but the regiment itself are surely adult enough to know what they need to get the job done.

Re: SAS firearms.
They are chosen by a select group of people. Each weapon selected is for the operational requirements below.
1 Must work
2 Must look as cool as possible
3 Must not be on general issue to rest of Army
4 Must run on cordite so McNab can fully describe the smell in his books.
But at the end of the day why does any one give a rats bum how UkSF runs its procurement.
