Nor would I, Danny. The trouble is that, though I've never had such problems with the police forces I've dealt with, it appears that some forces are looking for any excuse to refuse or revoke an FAC - such as that Chief Constable in North Wales who has openly said he'd like to ban privately owned firearms completely.

Best regards,

If any of them were involved in serious criminal activity I'd unfriend them faster than you can say selfie.
Do you think they would tell you? ;)

All of my UK FB friends have FAC or are part of my extended family, so I'm pretty sure the news would get out.
I tell most people I'm not on facebook.

This is an interesting story. Calls into question Data Protection laws does it not. If this chaps friends had not disclosed their criminal past then potentially there is an issue by the FLO telling the shooter that some of his friends have a record?

Also interesting to see what people's perceptions of FB are and how people clearly use it in different ways.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Simple set facebook security settings that no one can search for you by email or your name in fact you can be totally hidden from name searches etc
Also i can't see how the plod could take your ticket just for having someone on your facebook unless they could prove you associate with them in the real world and that you knew of their criminal activities

Fair comment but since they were your "friend" could you prove you did not know??

Most people know and I'm sure that plod knows as well unless they are complete bellends that people add random people, groups or accept friends invites from people that they don't know !

I have an interesting question, are armed plod upheld to the same standard as fac holders ? IE if they come to negative attention, domestic issues etc would they be kicked out of the firearms team and have they firearms authority removed ??
