If you find jags a hassle, don't use them.
Just get an undersized or well worn bronze brush and wrap the patch around it, I guarantee the patch will stay put.

AK cleaning kits, the type in the small metal tube container that fits in the stock, have a loop type jag like the one in the pic

Re: I f***ing HATE jags!!
just to hijack a bit,
i bought one of these kits from breacher (as earlier in thread) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390966662898
and i have to say, i'm not really getting on with it that well. i dont really like the pull thru for cleaning, its fine with a boresnake, but i just struggle with this.
i have brass rods with a 5mm thread, and converters for american threads, but kinda worried about the rods on the bore of the rifle etc, are there better rods out there which dont cost the earth?
also, what brush / jag size do i want for 303? also need to get brushes / jags for 38/357.

Mark, I can square you away a decent pull through. Eyelet type, wire.

I like the VEF thingies for cleaning. You can screw them tighter on the "jag" and vary the tension on the push through if you so desire.
Re: I f***ing HATE jags!!
Do you mean the VFG felt pads, they seem to be more popular in Europe although a few people hold them over here although they are expensive. I got mine whilst in DK and ended up having to make some different adapters to suit my rods. They seem to work reasonably well however they sit on the shelf 99% of the time as I prefer Pro-shot patches and a home made jag.
