Nothing to stop clubs that have access to MoD ranges organising their own competitions that are open to all. Too many people bleat that the NRA is Bisley centric yet do nothing to organise open competitions in the region where they reside. If you want it up North, get on and organise it on your home range.saddler wrote:...I take it that the non-Bisley NRA ranges will be offering a similar competition for us non-Home Counties before long?
NRA ranges such as....er, or..., erm.....
Pity such things always seem to happen in the London area.
An 800+ miles round trip kills of the chances of my being able to enter; I'm probably not alone in being hampered by the distance, it's a big pity this new event is another Bisley calender event & not viable to the majority of shooters.
It'd be good to see more P 14's entering the next match too!

You get the irony of that Steve?Steve E wrote: Nothing to stop clubs that have access to MoD ranges organising their own competitions that are open to all.
I may be wrong, but don't the NRA organise the Bisley matches, the expect other shooters and clubs to organise their own?
Re: Historic NRA CSR 4th April 2015
In the Full Bore world the NRA organise very few matches, it is the Bisley Clubs that organise and run the majority of competitions.Demonic69 wrote:You get the irony of that Steve?Steve E wrote: Nothing to stop clubs that have access to MoD ranges organising their own competitions that are open to all.

Large flagship events like the Imperial, Trafalgar and Phoenix are run by the NRA but the rest of the calendar are run by the large clubs as open meetings.
CSR is run under the umbrella of the NRA but it is not the NRA that organise it, it is group of very dedicated individuals. The Historic CSR is organised by the NRA though and will be shot for only the second time this Easter.

Re: Historic NRA CSR 4th April 2015
The Trafalgar was run by the South London RC originally but became too popular and large event for the SLRC to do it justice.
Hence why the NRA took it over.
Edited to add:
There's a bloke in Scotland who posts on the CSR forum, he organised his own club CSR match!

So because a load of people didn't turn up and shoot with their random service rifles somebody decided to exclude there type of rifles even though it would make no difference if they left it as it was , why?
I may if I can spare the time pop down with toffe wrapper and have a pop but I have to say I'm starting to lose my enthusiasm , we should be making it easier not harder .

Instead of moaning on here, why don't you contact the head of shooting at the NRA and complain to him. After all it's his match. I am sure he will listen to your tale of woe.tackb wrote:So because a load of people didn't turn up and shoot with their random service rifles somebody decided to exclude there type of rifles even though it would make no difference if they left it as it was , why?

Re: Historic NRA CSR 4th April 2015
I will stand to be corrected but I think this event was put together by LERA and the NRA.
If this is the case that is why it will be Enfields only.
And nothing wrong with an Enfield only event as there are plenty about.
I looked at running something similar last year (it will be on the forum) as an all makes service rifle comp
The cost involved to run was high-certainly if you wanted a chance of good weather.
I also had very little interest.
This will be a good event so support it please rather than the usual slagging off.
It is what it is and where it is. If you don't like it do something about like run your own at your own range.
Let me know the course of fire, when and where and I will get a car load of mates to come along and show you how to shoot.

Why should anyone have to explain anything, the match is what it is, if it its not for you then so be it don't enter there will still be plenty that do.
