Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
2 sides
fast fire clips = bad
fast fire clips = showing banning SLR's was pointless
My view is all safe shooting is good, lets wave the flag for innovation show it is safe. Highlight rules and regulations need to be challenged and are not written in stone.
Get more people shooting and be less snobby (lot of snobbery & ex officers mess types) try to reduce costs and make it more affordable and get a stronger unified voice by bigger numbers like the US NRA

If the MARS action is acceptable to the Home Office, it should be acceptable for everyone else.

You are wrong and frankly, your opinion amounts to diddly squat. What you voiced was irrational and cowardly and without doubt, destructive. Three times now I have had people like you, spouting rhetoric about what they believed was right and proper for "our" sport. Do everyone a favour will you, keep your treachery to yourself?

Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
Treachery is bit harsh if someone has an opinion on a forum they are intitled to voice it. You don't agree with and have voiced that and have said why. Calling someone names just discredits what you have said.
I can see what john is saying but don't necessarily agree with him. Let's be honest the orginal SLR ban was silly as you can not legislate for someone who doesn't think killing people is wrong.

Jezuz Cowardlydestructive its your narrow minded attitude that will damage the sport not mine, I want to safe guard it by saying don't do fast fire films , it does nothing but harm, and I don't like the use of the trigger as its being used in the Mars, and as for Treachery get a life pal !!!
Yes cowardly. You're more than prepared to "sacrifice" a MARS in order to save your own type. Been there, had that done to me. Your not safeguarding anything, except your own vested interest. Unfortunately clubs and organisations are full of spiteful little men who behave as such.
You really need to cast that critical eye over yourself. Attempting to defend such a crass statement as yours only compounds your own selfish, narrow minded view.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

No not at all chap I say I don't like the use of the Trigger as it is in this gun, and I also say I don't think the videos do any of us any favours at all ! and I feel if it gets out of hand my gun will also be on the endangered species list, I don't want to stop any one advancing the guns in any way, I just feel the trigger is not the way to do it, I know of one very good UK gun manufacturer working on a system but not using the trigger.
and you seem to be the little man being rude to a person for his views ? I am not being rude or calling out names, I have a vested interest in my Gun yes but that does not mean I don't want other manufacturers to make similar guns or ideas, just this one the Mars aint the way to go about it, sorry if you have one or you make them but its my opinion and seems I am not the only one who has doubts about this way of charging the bolt !!!! and one other point is I have invested good money in a gun with the same ideas but done in a much safer way than this idea so I am hardly narrow minded as I am in the boat with you, I don't want to loose my gun thats all

I also agree Rob if the SLR ban was lifted we would not be trying to come up with guns like this at all, and I would have a nice lite long 223 :) not a 2 ton pistol :)

Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
whats so wrong with using the trigger??
if you want to fire, but the bolt is open, the trigger pull closes the bolt, which you would see rather obviously and feel, as it is hardly a soft click.
if you want to fire and bolt is closed, you pull the trigger, it fires.
if you want to close the bolt, with bolt open, you pull the release, bolt closes (if you have a charged mag in, it would load it, same as if you closed an open bolt on an SMLE with a loaded mag)
if you want to close the bolt, with bolt already closed, it will fire if a round is chambered. (do you close the bolt on a live round, with something like an SMLE, WITHOUT the rifle pointing at target? if you do, i wouldnt want to be on a range near you, if you don't, then the rifle would be safe to discharge anyway, so if anything, its more of an annoyance and a wasted shot.
for me, its quite simple, do your proper drills, when you want to close the bolt on an empty chamber, you remove the mag, so it cannot chamber a round, and saves you missing a round in the mag.
i really dont see how its unsafe

Re: VZ58 MARS - First Range Day
In shooting like all things there are people who have a can do nature and others unfortunately who have a can't do nature.
It goes downhill when the the can't doers turn into don't doers.
