https://ukshootingnews.wordpress.com/20 ... -offences/Fresh from losing its bid for the rights to host IPSC Level 2 and 3 matches in Britain, the UK National Rifle Association has now resorted to telling UKPSA members they might be in breach of firearm certificate conditions.
Andrew Mercer, the NRA chief executive, seems to have suggested (in an official NRA Facebook post) that the UKPSA doesn’t offer sufficient insurance for its members...

NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
Cat, meet pigeons.
Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
Checked on Saturday while at the sold-out safety course up North, insurance is in place to cover ALL of your legal shooting as a member, not just specific disciplines, gun etc.
Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
I think the UKPSA must be subsidising the insurance costs with their current £10 membership offer.

Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
Sour grapes??????????
Funny how he only says something now.

Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
None of this political sniping is good for the sport. Wish the organisations could put aside their petty differences and work together, even if all they do is agree to disagree.

Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
This is only the introductory offer - it goes back up when you renew for the next year (£38 I think or thereabouts, I forget even though I've just renewed) - I'd expect it's a group policy so in effect existing members subsidised the new members insurance initially.BamBam wrote:I think the UKPSA must be subsidising the insurance costs with their current £10 membership offer.
As it happens I'm also a BASC member so I've over insured anyway, and I'm pretty sure that UKPSA, BASC and NRA are all backed by the same underwriters - "Bluesomething or other".
This Mercer bloke is doing the NRA image no favours whatsoever - I have zero desire to support the NRA particularly with him around, if he moves on then I'd hope new leadership would put right the many ills that we're collectively aggrieved by and I'd feel it worthwhile to support the NRA.
Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
....awaiting a UKPSA statement on stolen/missing NRA-stored firearms, advice on balancing the books (creative accounting) & how to run a shooting organisation by selling caravan pitches....Oh, and how being 100% Surrey-centric is of benefit to ALL shooters in the UK
Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
Guys
I read this that shooters rocking up to shoot shotgun comps at Bisley run by the NRA had better make sure that they have adequate insurance. If they aren't members of the NRA they might not be covered and UKPSA shooters had better specifically check if they are covered shooting NRA comps.
Can't see much wrong with this but then I recently joined the NRA so I'm horribly biased.

Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
It's just a bit pathetic. I don't think the UKPSA are stealing members from the NRA and I'm pretty sure someone of Mercer's stature could have just asked the question, I'm sure Veronica would have answered him.
Maybe all members of the NRA should contact Mercer to verify their own insurance is in place and comprehensive.

Re: NRA: UKPSA members might be committing criminal offences
So they might have insurance, but just in case the NRA will check their papers for them. Single them out, discriminate against shooters just because of the organisation they are a member of.Countryman wrote:Guys
