Why not? To date one of my Ar's in 5.56 has taken a few troublesome coyotes and my Grendel has taken three deer. An AR of the appropriate calibre will kill them just as dead as any bolt action. You can't hunt with an AR though. razz
(Not that you'd want to of course).

Oh sure you CAN hunt with an AR but in the UK we also have a responsibility to protect the fragile image of our sport and if you're going hunting somewhere where you're likely to encounter members of the public, I'd think twice about flashing a military patterned rifle around without wrapping it up in a bit of something and I'd certainly stick to a ten round mag.

I am going to the Icon Arms meet next Saturday, so will report back on my first fire of the P226. Will also try to get some video on my phone.
Re: Sig Sauer P226 LBP
be interested to hear how reliable and accurate it is, also very interested in how they are going to allow people to try it out, unless all those attending have already applied variations and put it on ticket LOL
Re: Sig Sauer P226 LBP
I know of several stalkers/hunters that use ARs (in deer legal calibres), in straight pull to take fox and the smaller variety of deer. They only hunt/stalk so have them for live quarry, they don't seem to have any problems getting them on their tickets. After all they are only rifles in a certain calibre, no need to inform the authorities that they are straight pull ARs.ordnance wrote:You can get get them but not for hunting, walking around the fields here with an AR could get you in all sorts of trouble. :)You can't hunt with an AR though.

Those dreaded black rifles.
Hells teeth we are doing the antis job for them, so long as it is legal to own and the correct calibre for the quarry then that is all that matters its design, layout, looks and material are of no consequence.
We on earth do some of us feel the need to hide what we do, apologists do shooting no favours.

Ordnance lives in Northern Ireland, there are associated risks concerning the "AR" out and about that the rest of us don't have to contend with....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

And it's that sort of "scared of your own shadow" attitude that has seen the shooting sports suppressed to such a degree that even the participants speak of it in hushed tones!!
In regards to your sport, "grow a pair"....
