Considering my studies and placement are going well, I decided to treat myself today. O:-)

I had two to chose from - a 10/22 International and a Mauser 105.

The Mauser was really, really tempting as it fired from the open bolt and it's operation was elegantly simple, but in the end I went for the 10/22 - mainly because of the full length stock and the availability of spares.

Not to everyone's liking :o but here it is -

Neat - not sure I've seen a stutzen 10/22 before. Is the front sight post the same as the standard version?

Thank you, I think so too. If we get up to Brora (and we'll try!), I'll bring it up so you can give it the once over.

To be honest I don't know. The 10/22 hasn't been a rifle I been particularly interested in before seeing this one. Looking at pictures of the standard 10/22 it appears similar and could be the same.

As for the model, the International isn't made any more - production runs in 66-69 and 94-03. This rifle was made in 1995 according to the serial number.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Loving these short barrels. I've got a cmmg I never shoot past 25m I was thinking of having slimmed down and over barrel moderated. Got a Samson 12" Evo rail on it so an over barrel suppressor would look neat, keep the noise down and maybe even aid accuracy.

If anyone's got any comments on this suggestion I'd love to hear them.

Trimming it down to what 14.5 and going with an over barrel mod?
